Sanneh Foundation Kicks Off Holiday Giving Fundraiser with NASCAR Star Kyle Larson Pledging to Raise $50K

The Sanneh Foundation's Holiday Giving Fundraiser is off to a great start. On December 1st, “GivingTuesday,” we began our giving holiday by raising over $12,000 with the help of NASCAR star Kyle Larson. Over the summer, Kyle spent time with Sanneh distributing food, conducting round table conversations with youth staff, and learning about the difficult racial history of the African American community in Minnesota through the help of Hallie Q. Brown. Kyle also took time to mourn and pay respects with the Sanneh staff at the George Floyd memorial. Throughout the last few months, Kyle has become an advocate for The Sanneh Foundation and its mission to advance equity, diversity, and community well-being.

Five months after his first visit, Kyle joined us again to raise funds for our Holiday Giving Fundraiser. With the help of his vast social network, Kyle is aiming to raise $50,000 for The Sanneh Foundation by the end of the year. On Giving Tuesday alone, Kyle raised over $5,000 for Sanneh and its programs. His advocacy comes from his recognition of the critical work that Sanneh does. Writing appreciatively of our founder Kyle says, “Tony and his crew are doing amazing things to especially help those hurt by this pandemic.” Days after GivingTuesday, the fundraiser is still going strong with a total of over $25,000 in donations raised by supporters.

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. It is a post-Thanksgiving holiday in response to the consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Applying the lessons of community empowerment and social justice that we learned on our visit to Hallie Q, our Holiday Giving Campaign encourages everyone to make our community more equitable through charitable giving and volunteering.
