The Sanneh Foundation becomes a 2020 HERBIE Award winner

Great news, we’re award winners!

Giving his acceptance speech from his office at Conway Community Center, Tony Sanneh accepted the 2020 HERBIE Award on behalf of The Sanneh Foundation. The foundation was awarded the 2020 HERBIE Award in the organization category by the Saint Paul Chamber Charitable Foundation. The HERBIE award recognizes individuals, organizations, and businesses that exemplify the traits inspired by its namesake, Herb Brooks. Each year, two recipients are selected by the Chamber's Foundation Board. We are honored to be one of these two recipients. It is an honor to be recognized for the work that we do in the St. Paul community. We hope to continue doing great work worthy of being celebrated.

Recently, Sanneh has stepped up to counter the problems facing our community during these troubled times. When the pandemic hit we were one of the first organizations to begin offering food assistance, a much needed resource as 1 in 8 Minnesotans are currently facing food insecurity. Now our food program is a well oiled machine, with hundreds of cars and families passing through the drive-thru distribution line at Conway Community Center on a weekly basis. Our success is due to the hard work of our staff and volunteers as well as the partnerships we have with our local government and other nonprofits such as Second Harvest Heartland who provide much of our produce. Our operations stretch beyond food insecurity. We are also involved in developing a diverse workforce and supporting educational opportunities in St. Paul as well as Haiti.

The foundation has accomplished much in the midst of these difficult times. But we are not stopping here, we will continue to find ways to support young people and their families. As the situation develops, we will adapt and find new ways to serve our community members.
