HI Impact Trip Day 3 Blog - By Becca Jarson
As we are well into our third day of the trip, every sound, every smell and every sight feels just as new as they did the moment we first stepped off the plane. Today's plan was to have a beach day - a day not only spent relaxing together and soaking up the sun, but a day to see Haiti from yet another perspective. With the mountains on one side and the ocean on the other, we were surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery you could ever imagine. One young man took the three of us girls for a boat ride along the shore where we couldn't help but continue gawking over the view and the vibrant aqua color of the water.
We got to talking about his family and his dream of moving to the US to be with his brother and sister in New York. I loved listening to him talk about his goals and seeing in his eyes that he was going to try his hardest to make them happen. After that conversation, I realized something that can relate to this entire trip. Moments of silence come often. Not because there is nothing to talk about but rather because there is so much to say, it cannot be put into words.
